Shoulder set-back could rule out Olympic champ in Fort Lauderdale
Are you ready for some earth-shattering news?
Well, brace yourselves…
Laura posted the bad news on her and teammate Kira Walkenhorst’s Facebook page, informing their legions of fans that she had undergone a necessary operation to help cure a niggling shoulder injury.
“Last year I often had shoulder problems which our medical team always had – and has had – under control,” explained Laura.
“At the start of training the pain arose again and we decided together to see a specialist in Berlin to carry out a small surgery on the shoulder. Everyone agreed that this was the best way to fully attack again next year.”
While the good news is that Laura is fit and well (look at her smiling in the picture!) – but we will have to wait and keep our fingers crossed to see if she is raring to go for Florida in February.
“The shoulder looks good and diagnosis of the specialist has been very positive,” said last season’s National and European champ. “We will soon be back to achieve our great goal: the World Championships in Vienna in August 2017.”
Keep that shoulder wrapped in cotton wool, Laura – take it easy and maybe, hopefully we will see you in Fort Lauderdale after all. It wouldn’t be the same without you!
But even if Laura isn't there - we will be! So why not come and join us - hey, you can even volunteer and be a part of it!
